A very warm welcome to our website!

We hope that you can find everything you need to know but if not, please do not hesitate to contact us- call, email or arrange a visit: we would be delighted to offer you the chance to experience what goes on in Lime House School every day.

My name is Andy Guest and I am privileged to be the headteacher of this wonderful school. Lime House was founded in 1899 and has enjoyed the beautiful grounds of its present location near Carlisle since 1946. We are a fully independent, co-educational boarding and day school, which provides a quality, affordable education for pupils from seven to eighteen years of age. Young people of all nationalities are proud to call Lime House their ‘home’.

We see the fact that we are a smaller than average school as our biggest strength. We are a school that knows and cares for each of our pupils. Together we form a community of unique personalities and talents that thrive in the company of one another. Through our academic and co-curricular programmes, pupils are supported to achieve their potential and to embody our values of excellence, integrity and compassion.

The curriculum encourages breadth of academic achievement, reflected in the excellent external exam results of pupils year on year. Students consistently progress to the most prestigious universities in the UK and beyond. We provide support and guidance to ensure that every student has a curriculum that matches their future aspirations and develops the skills and passions they have.

Super-curricular opportunities develop skills of team-building, leadership, empathy and, crucially, kindness and respect for others. These range from sports to origami; from the Duke of Edinburgh award to debating and problem solving. There really is something for everyone!

Thank you for reading this introduction. I do hope you spend some time finding out more and that we will see you at Lime House very soon.
