Evenings & Weekends
At Lime House we understand that a happy child will thrive and be successful and we strive to make the boarding experience a positive one that balances the need for a reasonable amount of structure with opportunities for students to manage their own time and pursue their own passions. One of the school’s great strengths is that we are small enough to be able to support each individual child in whatever skills they would like to develop. We have strong links with local sports clubs, orchestras and other societies and Lime House pupils have many opportunities to take part in activities within the wider community.
Within school, evenings are fairly structured during the week with scheduled activities and supervised prep for all age groups. There is a termly programme of activities and all students sign up for 2-3 each week.
Students from year 10 upwards have a weekly exam practice session on Saturday mornings, after which weekends are free for students to take part in a wide range of activities, or simply relax and catch up on homework. Popular activities include cooking, line dancing, gymnastics, horse riding and outdoor pursuits as well as supervised walks in the surrounding countryside. Regular bingo and pizza evenings are well attended and very popular.
Students also enjoy trips into Carlisle for shopping and cinema and there are excursions every term to attractions such as the Alton Towers theme park and ‘Wet and Wild’ adventure centre.
