The Sixth Form Curriculum
Lime House School is committed to providing a rigorous academic and intellectual education which will challenge and engage pupils, offer continuity and progression of learning to foster a life-long love of learning for its own sake and provide them with a secure foundation on which to continue into Higher Education and into the careers of their choice.
Many students join Lime House in the Sixth Form where they are able to take advantage of a flexible range of subject options, and inspiring teachers to help them succeed in gaining places at top universities. At Sixth Form, an open policy applies to every student’s choice of subject and students have a free choice of any four or in some cases five A Levels or equivalent courses. The school aims to run any course in which numbers are economically viable.
The following subjects are currently offered in the sixth form at Lime House:-
- Business Studies (BTec)
- English Language
- Fine Art
- Further Mathematics
- ICT (CTec)
- Music Performing (BTec)
- Sport (OCR Cambridge Level 3 Introductory Diploma)
- EAL (English as an Additional Language)
In addition, the following subjects are available in conjunction with other local schools:
- Theatre Studies
- Ancient History
The Sixth Form Options Booklet gives more information about each course to help students and their parents to make informed choices, and a Sixth Form Open Evening allows parents and students to ask any questions regarding the Sixth Form.
In the Lower Sixth all students initially study at least four AS Level subjects and in most cases AS examinations are sat in the summer of Year 12.
The Sixth Form curriculum of examination subjects is supplemented by a Games afternoon, the Engineering Education Scheme and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
