COURMAYEUR SKIING HOLIDAY

MARCH 2007

A party of 52 pupils and staff have enjoyed a weeks skiing in the Italian resort of Courmayeur, situated below Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc). A special thank you to the staff of Interski, who organised the trip, and also to the staff of the Hotel Edelweiss where the party stayed.

 

 

 

 

 

The staff would like to congratulate all pupils for their excellent behaviour and commitment during their skiing lessons.

CHRISTMAS 'SHOE BOX' APPEAL

Once again, pupils have prepared shoe-boxes with a selection of items for children less fortunate than themselves. Hopefully some some contacts will be made during the coming year..

 

JULY 2003 'LEAVING SCHOOL'

Several overseas students have had to leave school early and unfortunately will not be present for the Leavers' Ceremony on July 12th 2003. Good luck to all this year's leavers.

COMENIUS PROJECT JUNE 2002

Groups of students from the Netherlands, Poland and the UK gathered at the school to evaluate the first year of the European project on 'Professions'. Next year's evaluation meeting is to be heldin Poland. Hopefully schools from Romania will also be joining the project.

 

MARCH 2002 ALLEGRO TRADE FAIR

'Allegro' is a company set up by members of Year 11 and the Sixth Form as part of the Young Enterprise Scheme. The scheme allows young people to gain first hand experience of setting up and running a business. It culminates in an examination in April. Advice is given by members of thelocal business community on a weekly basis. In order to generate income, Allegro have produced a variety of products that have been sold at school events and trade fairs throughout the year. Allegro's trade fair stand was placed first in theregional contest.

JANUARY 2002 CHINESE NEW YEAR

A group of Cantonese students and staff attended the 'Jade Garden' in Carlisle to celebrate theChinese new year.

DECEMBER 2001

Congratulations to Ian Jackson and all those pupils who participated in a non-uniform day to raise funds for Afganistan. Ian's father, who is serving in Afganistan, together with other services personnel, are helping to resource a new school for children in Kabul..

 

 

 

DECEMBER END OF TERM EVENTS

Many thanks to Amelia Stacey and other members of the Sixth Form who organised several events in aid of CHILDREN IN NEED. Highlight of the fundraising was the 'sponging' of staff including Mr Rice, Mrs Carton, Mr Egan, Mr Bills, Mr Owen, Mr McConnel and seen below in fading light is Senior Master, Mr Watson. Together with a 'non-uniform day' just over £200 was raised.

 

End of term events included a disco, christmas party, a shopping trip to the Metro Centre inNewcastle and a party attended 'SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER' in Edinburgh.

The Junior School pupils held their annual fancy dress party before making the short trip to Keswick to see the pantomime 'THE SNOW QUEEN'.

 

EXAMINATION SUCCESS AUGUST 2000

Congratulations to all GCSE and 'A' level candidates who received their results this month. All

members of the Sixth-Form have been accepted by their first choice Universities.

Special congratulations to James Charnley and Alistair Cheesebrough (pictured above). James, who is dyslexic, has added to the seven GCSE passes at 'C' grade or above gained last year. He received a 'B' grade in A level Geography, a 'C' grade in A level Business Studies and a 'D' grade in AS level Accounting. He has accepted a place at Liverpool University. Alistair passed GCSE

Mathematics and History with 'B' grades at the age of thirteen and has added English Language this Summer.

SUMMER 2000 END OF TERM EVENTS

The SPEECH DAY & LEAVERS' CEREMONY was held on Friday 7th July. Most of those leaving are eagerly awaiting A level examination results and hoping to go to University. Good luck to all those leaving and we wish you a happy, healthy and successful future.

 

wo musicals were performed towards the end of the Summer Term 2000. Members of the Junnior School performed the 'THE ROCKY MONSTER SHOW' and Senior School pupils performed 'THE PIED PIPER'. All parents and pupils enjoyed the performances and congratulations to all those involved.

 

 

The LEAVER'S DINNER was held at Michaelangelos restaurant in Carlisle on Friday 30th June. Eric Kuk (Head Boy) made his farewell speech and Emma Jane Clarke (Head Girl) wished all those leaving every success in the future.
