Although details of the school curriculum are given in the prospectus there have been amendments to this in recent years. Several changes are itemised below to give a more up to date account.
JUNIOR SCHOOL
Junior School classes each have their own form teacher who is responsible for the majority of classroom teaching. A classroom assistant supports the Infant staff. A broad and balanced curriculum has been written, introduced and is under continous improvement and development. This incorporates all National Curriculum areas. Three core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science are based upon these schemes:
Ginn 360 English and Reading Scheme.
New Heinemann Mathematics.
Ginn Science Scheme.
In addition, Junior School encompasses a wide subject
area including:
Geography, History, Religious Education, Design &
Technology, Art & Craft and Information Technology.
Specialist teachers from the Senior School manage the Games, Music and Languages curriculum. Key Stage 1 and 2 assessments are undertaken at the end of Year 2 (Infant) and Year 6 before entry into the Senior School. Individual academic requirements are met through a close working relationship between form teachers and the Learning Support Department where appropriate curriculum amendments can be made.
SENIOR SCHOOL
The Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) curriculum has been developed
by subject staff using National Curriculum guidelines. These courses take into
account individual needs and are closely aligned to the Junior School curriculum.
All pupils follow courses in:
English, Mathematics, French, German, Science, Geography, History, Information
Technology, Art, Music, Religious Education, Physical Education, Games, Craft
& Design, Home Economics and Personal/Social Education.
All pupils sit Key Stage 3 National curriculum tests at the end of year 9. As it is the school policy to accelerate an individual's academic programme some pupils may take a GCSE examination during this stage.
Pupils entering Year 10 and 12 are provided with a GCSE or Sixth-Form (Advanced level) Options booklet. These provide substantial syllabus details as well as assessment procedures and examination boards used the most recent copies are available from the school office.

Many pupils aged 14 and above follow the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme. Sixth-form pupils therefore have the possibility of completing their 'gold' award before leaving school. Many pupils are also involved in the Army Cadet Force which is open to both boys and girls.
Saturday morning school is compulsory for boarders and recommended for day pupils in Year 10 and above. Examination skills are developed during this time with past GCSE, 'AS' and Advanced level papers being conducted. I can be contacted at the school should you wish to discuss any matters regarding the curriculum.
